Dekoloniale Festival 2024, Day 2: Discourse Program
November 15, 2024 marks the 140th anniversary of the historic Berlin Conference of 1884/85. The discourse event "Dekoloniale Berlin Africa Conference 2024" reflects on this past and its impact on the present and brings together representatives from Africa and its global diasporas. They discuss the aftermath of the historic conference, which is now reflected here.
19 experts from the fields of politics, science, art and civil society will be invited from countries that were and continue to be affected by the political positions of the 19 Western powers represented at the 1884/85 conference.
The event will shed light on the complex relationships between the former colonizers (today's EU member states including the European-colonial-based USA, Brazil and Caribbean states) and their former colonies, particularly in the context of migration, trade, cultural and historical interdependencies.
The number of participants in attendance has been reached. We will livestream the entire conference on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@dekol...
