RELATED back : an audio walk about what happened at the Karpfenteich in 1896
RELATED is a narration about the history of the 106 Black children, women, and men who were actors in the first German colonial world exhibit at the Karpfenteich pond in Treptow in 1896. “Recruited” by the Reich government and the colonial authorities in the territories colonized by the Germans, they came to Berlin and had to perform the exhibition organizers' colonial staging there for a summer. Their life at the pond, however, was not only marked by the racist gaze of the public, but also by the many small and large acts of resistance. They fought back with humor and collective refusal. They stood their ground in small ways as well as in large ones. They left traces.
The launch of the English and French version of RELATED will take place at the site of the colonial world exhibit. You will find time to do the audio walk and have some food. Sauti é Haala and Vincent Jazz will play some music, too. Please bring headphones and a blanket!

TOLD BACK - une promenade audio sur ce qui s'est passé au Karpfenteich en 1986
RELATED raconte l'histoire des 106 personnes noires qui ont été les artists de la première exposition coloniale allemande, presented à l'étang "Karpfenteich" à Treptow en 1896. "Recruté.es" par le government du Reich et les autorités coloniales dans les territoires colonisés par les Allemand.es, il.elle.s sont venu.es à Berlin et ont dû y jouer la mise en scène coloniale des organisateur.trice.s de l'exposition pendant un été. Leur vie à l'étang n'a pourtant pas seulement été marquée par les regards racistes du public : il ya aussi eu de petits et de grands acts de résistance. Ces personnes se sont défendues, par l'humor or par le refus collectif. Elles se sont affirmées, avec de petits ou de grands moyens. Elles ont laissé des traces.
Le lancement de la version anglaise et française de RELATED aura lieu sur le site de l'exposition colonial. Vous trouverez le temps de faire la promenade audio et de vous restorer. Sauti é Haala et Vincent Jazz joueront également de la musique. Veuillez apporter des écouteurs et une couverture !
